“As long as I can remember, I wanted to be a nurse. When I was 14, my father was in a car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. After getting my nursing degree, I started in physical rehabilitation to help people with brain injuries, and then was introduced to home health where I worked for several years before moving into hospice.

I’ve always wanted to comfort people who are dealing with serious illness and to educate loved ones on how to best take care of them. Hospice involves more than just addressing physical needs. We form therapeutic relationships to provide holistic care for patients and their loved ones.

As a hospice nurse, we acknowledge the suffering and address the emotional concerns of all who are involved. Our commitment to families extends even beyond the passing, as we also provide grief support for those left behind.”

A highly experienced nurse, Heather came to Gentle Shepherd more than 15 years ago with 14 years of nursing experience. She has served us in several different roles, even while she continued her passion of direct patient care. A board certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse, she is also a member of our clinical leadership team with a focus on quality assurance.

Heather is a Stephen Minister and also serves in the children’s ministry at her church. Her favorite outreach ministry is Straight Street.
