“After being in the nursing home industry for 15 years, I started feeling like I seriously needed a change. One morning when I was particularly troubled about this, I had to force myself to attend the monthly senior networking meeting.

That’s when I met June, a woman I had only met once before. She told me all about Gentle Shepherd Hospice and a job opening that they had. Initially, it just seemed too good to be true… a Christ-centered company with the highest standards for care, where they show the love of Jesus to patients, their families and each other. It seemed like a dream job!

Before this conversation, I had already decided that I wanted to go into the hospice field. When June arranged for me to meet with Don and Kim, it was clear that God had plans for me! They made an offer later that day.

I’ve never worked in a place like this before. As a marketer, when I talk about how our wonderful staff and care teams demonstrate true love, care and compassion for others, I have the utmost confidence in what I am representing to the community. That’s what I love about working here.”

Denise lives in Stanton, VA, with her husband of 35 years. She is a mother of three and a grandmother of five. Her family loves spending time at Smith Mountain Lake where they have a camper. She also loves to paint furniture and “go antiquing.”

Denise helped launch and serves on the board of Love INC (In the Name of Christ). She volunteers at her church and is passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association, serving on the fundraising committee for their annual walk in Lynchburg.
