“At the early age of 16, God called me to become a missionary. Initially, I understood this to mean working abroad in the mission field. However, when I went to college God clarified my calling and I entered the field of social work.

My first college internship was in hospice care and two years later my Nana entered into hospice with ovarian cancer. While supporting her through this battle, it became clear that hospice was my true calling and mission field.

I have used my God-given skills as a social worker to minister to the terminally ill and their families through compassion, love, support and encouragement. I am beyond blessed to work with Gentle Shepherd hospice as their mission and faith-based practice parallels my own.”

Andrea came to us with 15 years of hospice experience. She lives in Salem and enjoys serving in the nursery at her church and leading her weekly Emmaus reunion group. In her spare time she loves kayaking, boating with friends at Smith Mountain Lake and traveling. Andrea is originally from Richmond, VA where her twin sister and parents still reside.
